The Co-Op Experience
WLCN is a cooperative nursery school. This means that you will participate, along with the teacher and the assistant teacher, to help your child adjust to his/her major step away from home. As a member of the co-op, you will observe and participate in your child’s development and enjoy close communication with the teachers and other parents. Mothers, fathers, and even grandparents are encouraged to participate as fully as possible. In practical terms this means you will:
- Help in the classroom including light cleaning and provide assigned snacks at various times throughout the year. We are as flexible as possible in scheduling to allow for your unique family situation.
- Contribute your special skills and interests as part of the Board or as a committee member.
- Participate in fund-raising and school-sponsored events.
- Participate in one Saturday school cleaning per year.
- Attend General and Session Meetings to discuss your ideas on the school’s performance. Typically General Meetings are held twice per year. Session meetings, usually held three times per year, give you, the teachers, and the parents of your child’s classmates a chance to meet as a group and discuss issues and upcoming activities.
